Lightning International, a content distribution and solutions company based in Hong Kong and the U.K., is gearing up for the upcoming Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) in Singapore by expanding its team.
Eric Tan has been appointed as the Director of Content Sales Asia, taking charge of all aspects of channel and content distribution. With a background in the telecommunications and broadcasting industries, Tan brings experience from roles at Singtel, Da Vinci Learning, and Sony Pictures Entertainment Networks Asia. His base will be in Singapore.
As part of its strategic growth, Lightning has welcomed David Newton as the Director of Business Strategy. Newton, previously the Finance Director at Reuters and the Financial Times, and later CFO at LexisNexis and Haymarket Media Asia, will oversee Lightning’s business direction and growth strategy.
Desmond Chung, a seasoned communications professional with a track record including Turner, Fox, Genting Hong Kong, and CASBAA, has joined Lightning as the Head of Marketing & Communications. His role aims to amplify the company’s voice and enhance brand awareness.
James Ross, CEO of Lightning International, expressed excitement about the new additions, stating, “Their extensive experience in their respective fields, especially within the broadcasting and media industries, will be an asset for Lightning as we look to continue our growth trajectory in the future.”
Earlier this year, Lightning became part of AsiaSat, broadening its reach in content licensing with a diverse catalog of programming, including finished shows and formats, and managing the distribution of over a dozen channels. Some of these channels encompass Action Hollywood Movies, Concerto TV, Docsville, GB News, Globetrotter, Kartoon Channel!, LFCTV, NewsWorld, NOW 70s, NOW 80s, NOW Rock, People & Planet, Pet Club TV, Pulse Documentaries, RCM, TRACE Urban, TRACE Sports Stars, and more.
The ATF, commencing next Tuesday with a day of conferences, seminars, and presentations, will shift its focus to the trade show and rights market from Wednesday to Friday.
