Country star Dolly Parton stole the spotlight as she took the stage during halftime at the Dallas Cowboys-Washington Commanders NFL game in Arlington, Texas. At 77 years old, Parton donned the iconic blue-and-white vest and short shorts of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders while performing songs from her new rock-influenced album, Rockstar. The album features an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Lizzo, Elton John, Chris Stapleton, Pink, and Brandi Carlile.
Accompanied by the entire cheerleaders troupe, Parton entertained the crowd with her classics “Jolene” and “9 to 5,” along with a cover of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” and “We Will Rock You.” Despite her comfort on big stages, Parton revealed that she has turned down offers to perform at the Super Bowl halftime show in the past.
The Country Music Hall of Fame member and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee released Rockstar on November 17, showcasing her enduring musical prowess. As a Thanksgiving Day treat, she dropped two bonus tracks to the already extensive 30-song album, including a new version of her classic “Jolene” with Måneskin and a cover of Eddie Money’s 1977 hit “Two Tickets to Paradise.”
