Scott Waugh, the director of Expend4bles, addressed the potential appearance of Jackie Chan in Expendables 5. Expend4bles marks Waugh’s first film in The Expendables franchise, as he previously directed Need for Speed in 2014. The cast of Expend4bles includes Jason Statham, 50 Cent, Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, Andy Garcia, and Sylvester Stallone. Despite its underperformance at the box office, discussions about a potential Expendables 5 continue.
During an interview with JoBlo Celebrity Interviews, Waugh was asked about the possibility of Jackie Chan joining The Expendables franchise. Waugh replied that “anything is possible” and expressed excitement at the idea of Chan’s potential involvement. The final decision would ultimately depend on the actor’s availability.
Chan has been acting for over 50 years. He is a fan favorite to join The Expendables team. The Expendables movies featured other action legends, like Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Ford. Chan was not included in the cast. Stallone tried to recruit Chan for The Expendables 2 and 3. Chan declined both times, citing schedule conflicts and a fear of limited screen time. He didn’t want to be in roles where he would only appear for a short time.
Expend4bles changed the dynamic of the franchise. Stallone was no longer the main character, with Statham taking the lead instead. This shift suggests that new characters could be added to The Expendables. Chan might be one of those new additions, if the franchise is fortunate.
